Granny Would Be Proud

So I'm making my first foray into craft fairs with a table at the fabulous Granny Would Be Proud at Hillhead Bookclub on Sunday the 11th December. I'll be sharing the table with the wonderful Nichola Kerr who will be selling a fantastic and eclectic array of Vintage clothes. There will be loads of great sellers with brilliant ranges of quirky and unusual present ideas so anyone stuck for presents will be STUCK NO MORE.

I'll be selling my handmade greetings cards and a new range of animal patterns in frames. A perfect (and very reasonably priced) present for an animal lover (if I do say so myself).

So come and have a good rummage and say hello.

Christmas Cards
Scotty dogs, foxes and giraffes
Penguins, jellyfish and seahorses

Batman-inspired notecards
50's Batman. The best Batman? Well, no.

Music is Everywhere

I did this for my self-initiated unit in college and was rather chuffed with it. It was entered into the Craftex exhibition a few weeks ago as well as being in my end of year show, so it's been around a bit but is now sitting in my spare room looking at me.

I wanted to do an image that could be used to promote the smaller music venues in Glasgow - because there's hundreds and loads of them are amazing. The bigger ones like the SECC get all the hype but the smaller ones are more fun. I feel like I don't take advantage of living in such a brilliant city. So I wanted this poster to show a big clump of venues all running into each other and overlapping, like a really confused map.

I cycled around Glasgow taking photos of loads of venues and doing basic sketches of them. There were loads I missed out obviously, but I just picked ones I liked, had been to myself and liked the look of.

So then I drew it all up on an A1 piece of card and cut it out by hand. It took about 3 days I think. And many blades and much swearing. Here are some details:

If you want to buy an A3 print of this please get in touch. Or even the original if you'd like.

Cards

Hello,
Thought I'd do a quick post on where you can get my cards if you so wished.

Firstly, the lovely folk at Eternal Light Scottish Gift Shop on Dumbarton Road are stocking my Gaidhlig cards.
You can pop in at 367 Dumbarton Road.

The wonderful Cushion & Cake are a beautiful, new, wee tearoom and craft gallery on Old Dumbarton Road (just along from Firebird). Do go in for a cup of tea, a cake and buy one of my cards! They're stocking both the gaidhlig ones and a variety of my other notecards.

And on Skye, the Isle of Skye Candle Company in Broadford and the Isle of Skye Soap Company in Portree are stocking my Gaidhlig cards. Both of which are wonderful and seem to be selling quite a few so far.

You can also purchase any online from me at my Folksy shop .

And I nearly forgot the Rockvale Guest House on Tiree who sell my bird cards. Incase you happen to be headed in that direction. Which you should because as I've already mentioned, it's beautiful.

End of Year Show

So last night was the opening to the City of Glasgow College End of Year Show. I am suffering horribly after a lot of free wine and then some gin and some more wine.

Those are my things. It was too busy to take photos of everyone's things but it's on until Friday so I will go and take photos of everyone else's things too. But I did get a few photos of my other half's things as he was on the same course as me. He also kind of proposed the night before last, the fool.

He's very clever (and handsome) and can be found here: BLOG and TWITTER

Mock New Scientist Editorials

One day I will actually do an illustration for the New Scientist. And then maybe I will be able to afford to buy the New Scientist. Both these articles are just cool. The paranormal one is why people believe in ghosts and the paranormal due to our brains being wired to assume there's danger where there isn't any, just in case. And the plant article is about how plants communicate with each other and transfer nutrients and water to less able plants and warn each other of incoming dangers and it's amazing and COMPLETELY BLOWS MY MIND.

100 Years of Solitude

There was a Penguin competition to design the cover of 100 Years of Solitude. Which is a wonderful book which you should all read. I had a few attempts at it.

But decided on this one:

Cards being sold in the wonderful and beautiful Rockvale Guest House in Tiree. I am very grateful to the also wonderful and beautiful Alison for selling them for me. Cards are based on the local birds of Tiree, of which there are hunners.

That is Tiree. How fricken' pretty is that?

Guitar

Pickguard design thing for a friend. Did two and he picked the bottom one with the rose n'that. It's a papercut on coloured paper under a transparent plexiglass type cover thing.

Also, Happy New Year etc. Mine has started with a mild hangover.
